Video Counseling Sessions

Your website says you do video sessions.  How does that work?

  • We use an application called Zoom which can be accessed on the computer or on your phone. It requires no downloads, no set up, and is of no cost to you. We will send a link to your email for you to access the meeting. The only thing required of you is to follow the link in your email at the time of your scheduled session.

Is it as effective as in person therapy?

  • The efficacy of video sessions will vary from person to person. We take into consideration your individual needs, treatment goals, and safety to determine if video sessions will be helpful. Some clients may have all of their sessions via video, while others may do some video sessions and some in person sessions. Many clients prefer in person sessions only. We will collaborate with you to determine the best fit for you. Overall, research has demonstrated that telemental health is as effective as in person therapy.

What about…?

-Lagging

  • We use the application Zoom because it is #1 in customer satisfaction. They offer HD video and are more reliable that the competition. We have had no issues with lagging so far.

-Connecting in Session

  • We have set up our computer and camera so that the therapist and client are able to make genuine eye contact. We have been surprised how easy it is to forget that you are not in the same room.

-Getting Disconnected

  • In the rare event that we would get disconnected, it is important for clients to know we will never purposely disconnect. If we cannot reconnect online, we will call you.

-Confidentiality

What are the advantages?

-Quality Therapy Where You Need It

  • Living far away, a snow day, or being on vacation shouldn’t prevent you from having access to quality therapy. Video sessions offer therapy where and when you need it.
